SMT.Sushila Devi Mathur PG Girls College, affiliated to MDS University Ajmer, was established in 2003. This college, nurturing under the umbrella of the renowned Mahila Ashram Group of Institutions, is a prominent women educational college for conducting professional postgraduate and graduate degree courses. The college is committed to serve the society, especially the women, and enhance the quality of life through excellence academically and professionally by imparting relevant education and training. The emphasis is on developing the right attitudes and values of discipline, dedication and commitment among the students.
SDM is a private college, dedicated to the women’s higher education, with an increasing number of girls’ student getting admitted every year. ” Discipline is the key to achievement”. It helps in moulding a students’ character. This thought is strictly followed at SDM. Here at SDM, discipline among students in the classroom helps them to stay focused on there academics. Mobile phones which distract the minds of students are not allowed in college campus. To ensure academic discipline the attendance particulars and internal marks are communicated to their concerned parents time to time through PTM’s. To maintain a proper discipline in college, student- teacher interaction session is held in 15 days once. Various committees like Anti Ragging Committee, Grievance Redressal Cell, Anti-sexual Harassment Cell, Equal Opportunity Cell and Student Advisory Committee have been formed to check the discipline among the students.
It is the result of best academic environment and discipline here at SDM that we proudly possess a list of meritorious students and University rank holders every year. SDM supports the students to refine the necessary skills, attitudes, and aptitude towards the corporate placement process in the campus by the way of periodical competitive tests and group interaction exercises. Many students have secured placements in different fields after the completion of their degrees here. To guide girls for their better future, career counselling sessions are also organised by all streams. Renowned guest speakers are invited from different fields who guide them for their careers. Eminent lectures from different colleges and different fields are called upon to give lectures on various topics to our students. The main aim behind such a guest lecture are to upgrade students’ knowledge and update them with the relevant trend. Distinctly better performance of our students at the final University exams strongly endorses the quality of our teaching – learning process.
SDM college has also got an affiliation from Rajasthan ILD Skills University Jaipur (RISU) which is the Rajasthan State Government State University. Various skill development courses are conducted here at SDM which promote skill education in a holistic and integrated manner. The courses offered here are: Diploma in Fashion Design, Diploma in Interior Design, Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy, Diploma in Web and Multimedia Design, Diploma in journalism and Mass Communication, Diploma in Computerised Financial Accounting Skills. These courses help students and working professionals to actively analyse the skills and expand their job opportunities. The certificate and diploma courses and skill development are considered as an additional qualification for the graduates with the bachelors or master degree.
The college organises all Rajasthan State level Debate competition under the title all Rajasthan Shri Shivcharan Mathur English Debate Competition and All Rajasthan Shrimati Sushila Devi Mathur Hindi Debate Competition annually in the memory of its founder members. The winning team is awarded a Running Trophy along with the cash prizes for all position holders. Participation certificate is also given to each and every participant.It is a very prestigious debate of Rajasthan in which participation comes from various colleges of Rajasthan.
